Reviews
Jose David Alfaro Siqueiros was a great mural and eisal artist who strived to not only represent the Mexican people in his works but also in his militant efforts to improve their daily struggle. As president of one the largest Mexican unions, he struggled to achieve better living standards for the poor and marginalized people. When his union threatened to shut down Mexico City , he and other members of the union were arrested. Siqueiros spent four years in jail. As one of the three great mural artists, he and his colleagues Rivera and Orozco dedicated their life to a nationalistic cause, painting their murals in public plasces. Siqueiros' political and artistic life is clearly documented in this book with illustrative examples of his mural paintings.
